If you store more than 1,320 gallons of any oil product, including anything from fuel to peanut oil, you may be required to develop a Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan. Antea Group assists industry, railroads, and agricultural institutions with the development of comprehensive SPCC plans, training, documentation and record-keeping to meet the latest standards.
To prevent the accidental release of oil to the environment, 40 CFR 112 requires the development of a SPCC plan if you have 1,320 gallons total or more of oil storage (ASTs), or 42,000 gallons underground storage (USTs). Storage containers may include tanks, containers, and oil-filled equipment (hydraulic jacks, transformers), if they have the capacity to hold 55 gallons or more, including all tanks on site even if they are empty. Because “oil” can mean petroleum, animal fats, vegetable oils, used oil, and oil mixtures (like oily water), even agricultural institutions can be required to develop an SPCC for the storage of vegetable and animal oils.
While failure to develop and maintain your SPCC plan can result in expensive fines and penalties, you are not on your own when it comes to SPCC plan compliance. Antea Group’s national team of experts can help you find the most cost-effective approach to meet your needs. This includes the option to utilize iEHS® automation and mobile devices to increase efficiency and consistency during site inspections, data collection, and report generation, and allow facility and asset tracking and portfolio analysis across your network.
