- Transportation Safety and DOT Compliance
Seventy percent (70%) of all goods shipped within the United States are carried by commercial motor vehicles. In addition, consumer demand for goods is increasing, resulting in approximately 15 million registered commercial vehicles on the road, according to data from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Lastly, there were approximately 510,000 police-reported crashes involving large truck commercial vehicles in 2019, of which 114,000 were injury crashes and 4,479 were fatal crashes.
We understand that high incident rates and poor driving performance can have a multitude of consequences for businesses, including higher likelihood of being audited, fined and having Department of Transportation (DOT) registrations suspended or revoked – not to mention increased insurance premiums, challenges retaining drivers and significant business disruptions to an already strained supply chain. For these reasons, it’s critical for companies that own fleets of commercial vehicles to implement and proactively monitor transportation safety and DOT compliance programs.
Federal and State transportation regulations are rapidly changing and it’s becoming more difficult to keep up with basic compliance. Our consultants are experts in requirements for Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. From assessments, program development and training, we are here to help ensure compliant transportation operations and prepare companies to efficiently manage fleet safety risks and liability.
