About Me in 140 Characters:

I am a seasoned and enthusiastic microbiologist and remediation practitioner with a career spanning more than four decades. A major accomplishment was coauthoring two of the industry’s earliest books on bioremediation. My career goals have always been to be a trusted technical resource that listens to client needs and objectives. I am a daily learner and always like to share what I have learned with others. My family is important to me, and I am really enjoying being a grandpa twice over. I love all kinds of sports and have played, coached, and refereed several of them. I also enjoy reading and being outdoors as often as possible.

Favorite Thing about Being a Site Assessment and Remediation Practitioner:

What is the most interesting project on which you have ever worked?

The Joliet Army Ammunition Plant was my career project. Over 250,000 tons of World War I and II explosive compounds were treated using a special composting process to biodegrade them within 14 days per batch. The soil was recycled as soil cover in a neighboring prairie.

What is a key ingredient for success as a Site Assessment and Remediation practitioner?

Without a doubt, a problem-solving mentality.

What surprises people about your job?

The wide array of projects I work on and the many solutions there are for those projects.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

My father was affiliated with NASA and worked on the Mercury, Saturn, and Apollo projects. I thought I might become an aerospace engineer or even an astronaut.

If you had one month off, where would you go or what would you do?

I have always enjoyed visiting Europe, so an extended stay spanning multiple countries and a river cruise there would be awesome.

What is on the top of your bucket list?

Visit all the National Parks in the country.
