We are entering the circular age

Water crises are happening all over the globe. In Capetown, South Africa, where there is an on-going drought, water is so scarce that individuals are only allowed to use 18.5 gallons (70 liters) of water per day. This means doing everyday tasks like washing clothes, bathing, and cooking are becoming increasingly difficult. Many areas across the globe are experiencing acute water shortages due to overuse and misuse of water, but there is a solution--circular water management.

We recognize that the current model of withdrawing, using, and disposing of water is unsustainable for businesses, governments, and individuals. By identifying and utilizing overlapping core concepts in the circular economy principles and sustainable water management, we can mitigate the negative environmental and monetary impacts of using and disposing of water.

Antea Group, in partnership with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and ARUP, has created a white paper that establishes common language to allow circular economy and water practitioners to better understand and communicate best practices together.

This white paper explores common characteristics, ideas, and approaches between circular economy principles and water system management to aid practitioners in developing frameworks to identify opportunities for practical applications and communicating around these important concepts.
