RaaS: Finding the Right EHS Data Analyst for a Major Tech Company

Challenge

Our client’s EHS Center of Excellence (CoE) requested support for an EHS Data Analyst to help centrally drive consistency in developing and preparing metrics, streamlining the processes supporting data analytics, and increase quality and efficiency through building standardized tools and processes. The data analyst will help to perform data mining to identify trends and management decisions as requested by the CoE. The candidate must have an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) background with experience in performing analysis and developing and tracking metrics. The candidate must be comfortable navigating various databases and tools to include PowerBi dashboards, excel, and SharePoint sites.

The challenge was finding a resource with data mining experience and an EHS background.

Solution

Antea Group formulated the following description and requirements:

  • Able to work with Senior datacenter personnel and report to Senior Director.
  • Able to decipher existing data from multiple platforms (Excel, Power BI, etc) to work towards standardization of EHS data and metrics.
  • Create objectives and targets based on identified key EHS risks.
  • Decipher current EHS data through multiple platforms and help to determine best method to track and standardize.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years EHS experience
  • EHS knowledge / practitioner
  • Data manipulation experience or aptitude (Excel, Power BI, other database and graphical tools)
  • PC skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Experience and aptitude in managing or understanding global safety data and regulatory guidelines
  • Project management ability
  • Data gathering and analytical ability
  • Process improvement aptitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work directly with Senior client and multiple client teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both individually and as a team player.

Antea Group Resources-as-a-Service (RaaS) leaders specialize in identifying and making available resources that are fit-for-purpose. RaaS leadership applied their experience to effectively:

  • evaluate the technical skills and experience of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) resource candidates
  • compare EHS&S resource candidates against assignment requirements
  • understand Client cultural nuances and compare against resource candidate personalities; and,
  • support the onboarding of the EHS&S resource.

In the space of about three weeks, the internal resource was identified, presented to the client, off-boarded his existing assignments, and onboarded into the client assignment.

Result

The client now has a very experienced EHS resource/data analyst who is identifying and evaluating a multitude of health and safety data streams coming from multiple sources throughout their global operations. The assignment is currently in the phase of understanding what data streams exist, what they are comprised of, their integrity, quality and duration, and their source.

The second phase includes centrally driving consistency in developing and preparing metrics, streamlining the processes supporting data analytics, and increasing quality and efficiency through building standardized tools and processes.
