Developing 22 Health and Safety Programs for Global Office Supply Company

Challenge

A new client, a large, global office supply company, contracted Antea Group to develop a portfolio of health and safety programs for their retail, distribution, and digital production facilities (DPF). This project was awarded to Antea Group upon the successful completion of a pilot project developing emergency response programs, fire prevention programs, and injury and illness prevention programs, along with training documents for each program.

The client contracted Antea Group to support the development of 17 health and safety programs to replace their existing programs, which included the following:

  • Incident Investigation and Reporting
  • Hazard Communication
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • Electrical Safety
  • Permit Required Confined Spaces
  • Hearing Conservation
  • Machine Guarding
  • Fall Protection
  • Powered Industrial Trucks
  • Hot Work
  • Ladder Safety
  • Job Hazard Analysis
  • Hand and Power Tools
  • Medical and First Aid
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Manual Material Handling

Solution

Prior to the development of the health and safety programs, site visits were conducted at seven client locations (locations included retail stores, fulfillment centers, distribution centers, and digital production facilities) throughout the United States to gather information to be referenced while developing the programs. These site visits took place over four weeks in three separate geographic regions.

In addition, Antea Group collaborated with the client to develop a customized and branded template to use for the development of each health and safety program. This ensured consistency between each program and ease of implementation for the client.

Antea Group developed and delivered the health and safety programs to the client over the 10 weeks following the completion of the site visits. Due to the volume of health and safety programs being drafted, three subject matter experts (SMEs) experts drafted the programs while two additional SMEs conducted the senior review of all programs to ensure continuity. A third-party reviewer was utilized for each program to ensure high-quality and consistent deliverables.

Result

At the completion of the project, Antea Group had conducted seven site visits and developed 22 health and safety programs over the course of 4 months.

The consistency and speed Antea Group was able to provide to our client during this project allowed them to provide their teams and associates with high-quality programs and processes for the hazards they face on a daily basis in their retail stores, fulfillment centers, distribution centers, and digital production facilities.

Thanks to Antea Group’s high-quality deliverables and understanding of their business, the client has awarded Antea Group additional scopes of work, including supporting projects recommended to the client by a previous consultant. Some of these opportunities include:

  • Ergonomic Facility Assessment and Ergonomic Initiative Development
  • Development of a Drivers Manual and DOT Compliance Program
  • Emergency Mold Assessment post-Hurricane Ian
  • Lockout Tagout Support
