About Me in 140 Characters:

Born and raised in rural Minnesota. Bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University and master’s degree from Michigan State University (emphasis in Wildfire Meteorology). I love to go fishing, coach/play soccer, golfing, camping, hiking, and storm chasing.

Favorite Thing about Being a Multidisciplinary Practitioner:

I love the variety of projects and opportunities to help clients with decision-making. Data management and Visualization can be applied to all practices and service lines. This gives me opportunities to learn new things every day from all of our practitioners.

What is the most interesting project you’ve ever worked on?

Hurricane forecasting for one of our railroad clients was one of the most fun projects I’ve been involved with. Putting briefings together and developing communications for the client to make actionable decisions on asset locations.

What are some of your favorite tools/resources for professional development in this practice area?

Power BI is the main software I use for data visualization. I also use Python and Azure for data management and transformation. For weather forecasting, I use as much weather data as I can to make the best decisions possible for our clients.

What is a key ingredient for success as a multidisciplinary practitioner?

The biggest key is being flexible. Never go into meetings with a thought about how to solve the problem. I always keep an open mind and listen to all everything before thinking about a solution.

What areas of your work are you most interested in? Why?

The variety of project types is what I am most interested in. Working with project teams with very different objectives allows me to be creative in solutions.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Weatherman!

Is there something unique that people might not know about you?

I play the drums and have been asked to play in multiple bands

What is on the top of your bucket list?

Hiking Banff National Park

What is your most treasured possession?

The drum set my father passed down to me when he passed away.

What historical or fictional character would you most like to work with?

My great grandpa Sterling. He was an inventor and entrepreneur.
