About Me in 140 Characters:

I enjoy working and playing in the outdoors and exploring the history of new locations wherever I go for work or vacation.  I love helping and serving others.

Favorite thing about being a Spill and Response Plan Practitioner:

Although, a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in this area, I continually learn about how this sometimes-confusing regulation is implemented within a multitude of industries. I enjoy learning about these different industries and helping clients in maintaining environmental compliance.

What are some of your favorite tools/resources for professional development in this practice area?

I enjoy attending and presenting at conferences within the practice area for which I have a particular passion and in the process also learning much from my colleagues and peers.

What is a key ingredient for success as a Spill and Response Plan practitioner?

A key ingredient is knowing your stuff, know the regulations in and out, know your clients and their facilities. Then bringing that knowledge and experience together in the most practical and economical manner to help the client be environmentally compliant.  We must be ready with solutions to their gaps, not just identify their problems.

If someone at a party asks what you do, how to you respond?

My wife loves this one! It can get convoluted, but I usually try to keep it simple and indicate, “I am a Civil Engineer specializing in environmental compliance dealing with fuel and oil storage.”

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A Marine Geologist

If you had one month off, where would you go, or what would you do?

Explore Europe and Asia with my best friend, my wife.

What is on the top of your bucket list?

Attending the EAA Fly-in Airshow in Oshkosh, WI.
