RCRA Waste Management Compliance Support

Successful businesses today must manage waste appropriately or be subject or fines or penalties. Antea Group guides our clients through the applicable Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) laws, regulations, and policies, which create the framework for the site specific schedules, processes and procedures to properly manage hazardous and non-hazardous solid waste. Antea Group has background providing RCRA support to a wide spectrum of business sectors from manufacturing, to oil and gas, transportation, electric power, and heathcare.

What does RCRA mean to your business?

RCRA forms the basis of a national system of solid waste control, but here the term “solid waste” includes not only solids, but liquids and gases as well; RCRA rules only apply when the solid waste is discarded. Therefore, RCRA does not apply to material that is reclaimed, recycled, or raw material staged or stored for use.

The RCRA framework involves a number of elements-- Subtitle D of the Act is dedicated to non-hazardous solid waste requirements, Subtitle C focuses on hazardous solid waste and Subtitle I was developed to manage underground storage tanks. The framework consists of laws, regulations, policies, and guidance and can be enforced by EPA or by a state, upon authorization (States may become authorized by EPA after demonstrating that their state regulations are equivalent or more stringent than EPA.). EPA or authorized State has the authority to control hazardous waste from generation, to transportation, treatment, storage, and disposal.

It's important to have a thorough understanding of all the Federal and State regulations relevant to your business, and a plan for staying compliant
