Packing company gets help with following stormwater EHS regulations and EHS training

Stormwater Environmental Responsibility Fulfillment for California Packing Company

A California packing company engaged Antea Group to ensure fulfilment of its facility’s environmental responsibilities. The client had existing coverage under the California Industrial General Permit 2014-0057-DWQ (IGP) and sought guidance from technical experts and trusted advisors on how to effectively abide by all applicable stormwater regulations and permit requirements.

In 2014, Antea Group assisted the client in updating their existing Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), in providing sample analysis, and in the creating/submitting the 2013-2014 Annual Report. Additionally, the client utilized Antea Group’s experience to help address high stormwater runoff pH values which were caused by an outdoor process. A solution for this problem was identified and implemented, thereby returning the site pH values to within permit limits.

In 2015, California adopted a new Industrial General Permit which imposed additional requirements upon the facility. As a result, Antea Group developed a new SWPPP and submitted the 2014-2015 Annual Report via California’s Storm Water Multiple Application and Reporting System (SMARTS). Antea Group also provided technical assistance in the interpretation of sampling data and in the recommendation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) for high levels of Total Suspended Solids (TSS). The client implemented the recommended BMPs and successfully lowered TSS values to below permit requirements.

Additionally, Antea Group also created and presented a site-specific training program tailored to the specific facility. The training included a PowerPoint presentation featuring information on permit requirements, facility BMPs, sampling requirements/ procedures, and conducting inspections. The trainings also include interactive activities, as well as a site-walk which reviewed how to perform on-site inspections, what deficiencies to note, and sampling locations.

As a result, Antea Group became a trusted advisor and continues to provide technical support for IGP and SMARTS, emergency response assistance, updates to the SWPPP, and annual report creation and submittal.
