Best Apps for EHS Managers

Most Useful Mobile Apps for EHS Managers

September 12th, 2019

Managing compliance is a full-time job and to do it well, EHS managers need to have the right tools. We’ve put together a list of apps that we like (and use ourselves) to make EHS management a little easier.

We've broken them down into three categories: EHS-Specific Apps, General Business Apps, and Travel Apps (for those EHS managers who are on the road a lot visiting multiple sites.)

EHS Apps to Download Today

Here were some favorites from our consultants:

General Business Apps to Make Your Life Easier

Get the job done wherever you are:

  • CAMCARD (for scanning and downloading business cards on-the-go)
  • Google Translate (for global collaboration)
  • Adobe Fill and Sign (complete and send PDFs)
  • SafeNet MobilePASS (for extra security when accessing data remotely)
  • Genius Scan (uses your smartphone camera to take photos of documents and converts them to PDFs and can assemble multi-page documents on your phone)
  • Evernote (capture notes, build checklists, pull in images, PDFs, links and files, and share with your co-workers)
  • Trello (create organized lists and to-dos)
  • Egnyte (access files when away from your computer and save them locally to read offline)
  • Converter+ (for unit conversions)

Travel Apps to Save You Time and Stress

Our road warriors swear by these:

  • FEMA App (real-time alerts from the National Weather Service, locate emergency shelters nearby, and more)
  • Waze (for avoiding traffic when heading to sites)
  • TripIt (for organizing travel plans and sharing them with others)
  • OnX Hunt (shows property ownership and property lines)
  • Rail Crossing Locator (provides railroad crossing info including the owner, crossing ID, and milepost. Extremely helpful to our railroad experts on a recent emergency response project)
  • AccuWeather (loved by all for their extremely accurate forecasts and current precipitation tallies)
  • Wunderground (hyper-local weather forecasts, radar, maps, and severe weather alerts)
  • SpotHero (lets you find and reserve parking spots in major cities)
  • Noonlight (connects your apps to share data in case of an emergency)
  • Bonus: Phone safety features (for iPhones, click the power button five times and it will call 911. For Android, click side button three times and it will take photos from both cameras and a five-second video, which it will send to your emergency contact)

Check these apps out today, then reward yourself for your great work by using Untappd to quickly find a great beer list near you (or use Resy to grab a seat at your favorite restaurant).
