Our client is a leading global supplier of tooling, engineered components and advanced materials consumed in production processes, and is represented in more than 60 countries. Antea®Group was engaged to assist the company with the development and implementation of its global sustainability program and pursuit of its energy reduction goals.
Solution
We assisted this 85+ facility manufacturer develop and deploy “Protecting Our Planet,” a global sustainability initiative. The program was launched in 2008 with a goal of raising awareness about the importance of resource conservation and its relationship to company competitiveness and sustainability. This effort addressed a broad spectrum of environmental sustainability aspects, but emphasized energy use reduction as a core objective.
Our activities included strategy development, goal selection and metric monitoring, energy assessments, conservation and renewables project analysis, and various training and support services. We also supported our client with the publication of its first Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) oriented sustainability report, and we helped develop the tools and methodology to report on the GRI indicators for energy and emissions. We also developed a GHG emissions calculation tool and facilitated the collection of data from all facilities.
Result
Our client has made significant strides in energy and water conservation, materials recycling, waste reduction and other practices. Implementation of “Protecting Our Planet” has demonstrated that sustainable business practice can truly drive shared value.
The company has realized (or is on their way to realizing) $4 million USD in annual cost savings from energy conservation and other related projects that benefit both the environment and their business.
