Pro Bono Project: Building a Dashboard for Marine Pollution Monitoring with Ocean Wise Conservation Association

In 2023, Antea Group partnered with Ocean Wise Conservation Association, a nonprofit focused on protecting and restoring the ocean, to support their Pollution Tracker team. Ocean Wise’s mission aligns with Antea Group’s vision of a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable world, particularly in marine conservation. However, managing and visualizing large volumes of environmental data on ocean pollution posed significant challenges. The organization needed a more efficient way to clean, manage, and analyze data to ensure accurate and accessible information for ocean conservation efforts.

With the goal of enhancing data accuracy and efficiency, Ocean Wise sought Antea Group’s expertise in environmental data management and process optimization.

Antea Group supported Ocean Wise by implementing a comprehensive approach to managing and visualizing environmental data. First, the team focused on managing and cleaning environmental data within the EQuIS database system, ensuring that the information was reliable and ready for analysis. Antea Group automated the cleaning process for Electronic Data Deliverables (EDDs), which helped streamline the workflow and reduce the time spent on manual data handling. In addition to the technical tasks, Antea Group developed dynamic and interactive dashboards that allowed Ocean Wise to visualize the data in a clear and actionable manner. These dashboards provided real-time insights into ocean pollutants, helping to drive more informed decision-making.

Beyond the technical support, Antea Group also contributed to process optimization by offering valuable insights into the workflow and conducting knowledge-sharing sessions with Ocean Wise staff. Regular progress reviews were held to ensure the project was on track and meeting the needs of the Pollution Tracker team.
