Meet Jess Atar, an ESG Advisory and Sustainability Practitioner at Antea Group based in our Charlotte, North Carolina office.
Areas of Expertise:
Materiality and Corporate Reporting & Disclosure
About Me in 140 Characters:
I am a motivated, self-starter who loves a challenge and is eager to please.
Favorite thing about being an ESG Advisory & Sustainability Practitioner:
I love the people we work with and clients that we support in the ever-evolving ESG realm, especially being at the forefront as Antea Group’s Materiality Service Line Leader and senior practitioner within our ESG Advisory practice.
What is a key ingredient for success as an ESG Advisory & Sustainability practitioner?
Embrace being uncomfortable. Sometimes you have to face the fire and work on things that you may not be completely comfortable with, but you will never grow by staying in your comfort zone. When I first started in Sustainability, I was regularly engaging with clients (virtually) and as much as I enjoyed the exposure, I was terrified of public speaking. Fast forward 4 years, and now I feel confident engaging calmy and effectively with C-suite members from our client’s organizations. I am so happy I was forced into those experiences early on because, without it, I wouldn’t have grown professionally or personally.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The fast-paced and constantly changing environment makes it exciting. On top of that, I am passionate about sustainability, so I feel extremely fortunate to share that passion and positivity with my clients. Also, the fact that I am able to engage with clients daily and across industries is probably one of the most thrilling parts of my job. It’s a great place to be as I continue to grow and develop my career – always hungry for more!
If someone at a party asks what you do, how to you respond?
I’m a sustainability consultant, making the world better one client at a time 😉
What TV show character do you identify most with?
New Girl, Jess (Who’s that girl….it’s Jess!) – not only do we have the same name, but we are also both super awkward, bubbly, and filled with life.
Is there something unique that people might not know about you?
I love CrossFit because it challenges me both physically and mentally.
What is on the top of your bucket list?
Travel around Europe, Israel and really anywhere else around the world. I am waiting for everything to open up so I can devour all the pasta and pizza (& wine) in Italy, soak up the splendid sun in Greece, stroll around the lovely streets of Austria, and saddle up for some smooth camel rides in Israel.
